An Arizona native, Alexandra Melikian, is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance at the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts. Alexandra developed an interest in music at a very young age but truly “found her voice” when she auditioned for the musical productions at her high school, Notre Dame Preparatory, in Scottsdale, Arizona. She has performed in the ensemble in productions of Bye Bye Birdie, Into the Woods and Curtains. As a junior in high school, she was cast as Sarah Brown in Guys and Dolls and as a senior, she portrayed Janet Van De Graaff in the Drowsy Chaperone. As Johanna in Spotlight Youth Theatre’s production of Sweeney Todd, Alexandra delivered an enchanting performance of the vocally challenging piece, Green Finch and Linnet Bird.
Alexandra is a versatile performer who brings to the stage her lovely first soprano voice, an engaging presence and a commitment to the craft that translates into a captivating performance. Her wide vocal range allows her to perform in a number of musical genres. In her lower range, Alexandra has explored her country/organic tones with her first cover song, I Won’t Give Up, by Jason Mraz while her middle range allows her to deliver a strong Broadway belt. The strength of her upper vocal range allows Alexandra to deliver strong performances of challenging first soprano roles with ease.
The Herberger vocal performance program focuses on classical voice training and she is currently studying with renowned vocal coach, Carole Fitzpatrick and musical theatre coach, Kelli James.
